  • Hundreds of Shanghai's top medical experts have joined in the treatment of COVID-19 patients with severe symptoms to curb the growing rate of deaths among local infections, which has reached 87. More


  • Shanghai will continue its antigen and nucleic acid testing as the number of daily infections remain at a high level, according to the Shanghai Health Commission. More


  • Part of the makeshift hospital in Pudong's Lingang area has been upgraded into a designated hospital for ordinary and severe COVID-19 cases, especially for the treatment of seniors over 80 years old. More




   

  • A leading Chinese epidemiologist has reiterated that China's current dynamic zero-COVID approach aims at eliminating COVID-19 outbreaks rather than individual infections. More

  • Shanghai's economy grew steadily at the beginning of the year but retreated in March due to the coronavirus outbreak. The city's gross domestic product exceeded 1 trillion yuan (US$153.8 billion) in the first three months, up 3.1 percent from the same period last year (calculated at comparable prices), according to the city's statistics bureau. The growth pace was 1.6 percentage points slower than a year earlier, as a result of the sudden COVID-19 outbreak in March. More


  • Most of the capital goods monitored by the Chinese government registered lower prices in mid-April compared with the beginning of the month, official data showed Sunday. Of the 50 major goods monitored by the government, including seamless steel tubes, gasoline, coal, fertilizer and some chemicals, 20 reported rising prices during the period, 28 registered lower prices, while two saw prices remain unchanged, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. More
