The 1st Thing You Need To Do In China

Registration Form of Temporary Residence for visitors, is a proof of residence for individuals who don't have a mainland Chinese ID Card and live in China. It's stipulated that foreigners should register their residence with the local authority within 24 hours after they enter China every time.    

1. Methods of Registration


1.1 If you live in a hotel, the hotel staff will help you with the Registration Form of Temporary Residence and will report the related information to the Public Security Bureau.  

1.2 If you live in a homestay hotel, you or your landlord should take your or your landlord's identity document (Passport or ID Card), and The Landlord's Certificate of House Ownership or the Lease Contract to the local Police Station and register your residence.    

1.3 If you rent a house by yourself, then you should first take your legal identity document and lease contract to put on record at the sub-district office, pay your lease tax and stamp tax, and then register your residence with the local police station.

2. Functions


2.1 As one of the proofs that proving foreigner's legal residence in China, the Registration Form, together with your Identity Document, is for the local police to confirm your identity and residence in China.

2.2 You'll definitely be required to provide this document when you apply for a China work visa or a third country's visa, or buy a house or car etc in China.

3.1 What's the Validity Period of the Registration Form?

From the day you register to the day you leave China or change your address. ( Every time you enter China or change your address, you always need to register your residence again.)

3.2 If I have bought a house in China, do I still need to register my residence?

A

Yes. If you live in the house, then you should take your Identity Document and Certificate of House Ownership to register your residence with the local police station. If you don't live in the house, then you should still register your residence as is required by the local authority.

3.3 What if I fail to register my residence?

A

If you are found out by the police,you will be fined 2000RMB or less. And if you refuse to pay the fine or to register, you may be deported or have a bad record which will make it extremely difficult for you to enter China again.
