How to Apply for China's Business Visa?

With the gradual relaxation of visa policy in China, work visas and business visas to China have been opened for most countries. Compared with work visas, the application process for business visas is more convenient, both in terms of time and materials to be provided.

Who can apply for business visa?

People who have reached the age of 18 and go to China for commercial and trade activities, competitions or other commercial activities.


* Note: Business visas can only be applied abroad, you cannot apply for it directly in China. Plus, foreigners should have no record in China, such as visa refusal, overdue or illegal stay, etc.


Can all companies invite foreigners?

Not all domestic companies can invite foreigners to engage in business activities in China. Embassies of different countries have different requirements for inviting companies to apply for business visas.


Under normal circumstances, the registered capital of an enterprise needs to meet more than 500,000 RMB. Enterprises that invite foreigners to engage in business activities in China need to meet the conditions of normal tax payment, good social reputation and no serious criminal record.


* Note: If the scale of the company does not meet the requirements, but it is necessary for business, the enterprise should provide additional materials such as guarantee letter.

What materials do you need?

In addition to basic materials such as passports, additional materials are required:

  • COVID-19 vaccination record card or certificate.

  • Invitation documents such as business activity documents and invitations to trade fairs issued by trade partners in China.


The content of a business invitation is very important. Apart from basic personal information, it should also include the specific purpose of business invitation, such as attending exchange meetings, negotiating business, signing contracts, specific itinerary, detailed information of inviter, etc.


* Note: Incomplete business invitation will lead to the failure of your business visa application. And if you are Chinese, you need to provide your previous Chinese identity certificate. 


How long is business visa valid?

Usually, business visas are valid for 3 months or 6 months. Consular officials will decide the validity, duration of stay and number of entry times of visas according to the application case and the specific business reasons in China.


Can business visa be extended?

According to the relevant regulations, if the business activities applied for in China are still unfinished but the visa expires, you can apply for the extension of M visa. The applicant and the person in charge of the company need to go to the entry and exit of the city where the company is located to explain the reasons for the extension and apply for a business visa extension.


* Note: Business visas can't be extended indefinitely, and the maximum stay is no more than 180 days. Contact us if you need to extend your business  visa.
