Dr.Xiang Yang, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Pennsylvania State University, USADr. Xiang Yang is an Assistant Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the Pennsylvania State University. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University in 2016. Yang was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Turbulence Research between 2016 and 2017 before he joined Penn State as a faculty member in the Mechanical Engineering Department in 2018. His group conducts high-fidelity numerical simulations, builds physics- and data-based models, and finds efficient solutions for real-world engineering problems. The tools Yang uses include direct numerical simulation, large-eddy simulation, Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes, and machine learning.


Dr.Ricardo Vinuesa, Department of Engineering Mechanics, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, SwedenDr. Ricardo Vinuesa is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering Mechanics, at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. He is also Vice Director of the KTH Digitalization Platform and Lead Faculty at the KTH Climate Action Centre. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain), and he received his PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. His research combines numerical simulations and data-driven methods to understand and model complex wall-bounded turbulent flows, such as the boundary layers developing around wings and urban environments. Dr. Vinuesa has received, among others, an ERC Consolidator Grant, the Göran Gustafsson Award for Young Researchers and he is the PI of several EU-funded projects.
