China's planetary exploration program has been named Tianwen, or Quest for Heavenly Truth, the China National Space Administration announced on Friday.

中国国家航天局24日宣布，将我国行星探测任务命名“天问系列”。

The program was named after a long poem by the famous ancient poet Qu Yuan of the Kingdom of Chu during the Warring States Period (475-221 BC). He is known for his patriotism and contributions to classical poetry and verses, especially through the poems of the Chu Ci anthology, also known as Songs of Chu.

该名称源于战国时期楚国著名诗人屈原的一首长诗。屈原以爱国主义和在古典诗词方面的贡献而闻名，他的《楚辞》尤为经典。

The name represents the Chinese people's relentless pursuit of truth, the country's cultural inheritance of its understanding of nature and universe, as well as the unending explorations in science and technology.

以“天问”作为工程名称表达了中华民族对真理追求的坚韧与执著，体现了对自然和宇宙空间探索的文化传承，寓意探求科学真理征途漫漫，追求科技不断创新永无止境。

The country's first Mars mission was named Tianwen 1, the administration said.

国家航天局表示，我国首次火星探测任务被命名为“天问一号”。

It also released the planetary exploration program's emblem. The shape of the letter C, it incorporates the elements of China, cooperation and capability in deep-space expedition.

国家航天局还正式发布了行星探测任务的标识。字母“C”的形象，汇聚了中国行星探测（China）、国际合作精神（Cooperation）、深空探测进入太空的能力（C3）等多重含义。

US oil prices crashed to unprecedented lows on Monday (Apr 20) as futures in New York ended in negative territory for the first time amid a devastating supply glut that has forced traders to pay others to take the commodity.

Oil prices rebounded back above zero on Tuesday, with the contract for June delivery rising to above US$21 a barrel.

The May futures contract expired Tuesday, meaning traders who buy and sell the commodity for profit needed to find someone to take physical possession of the oil.

Eight people, including the manager of the residential building project, are put in criminal detention after four children found dead at a construction site in Henan province.

Four children aged between 5 and 11 were found dead in earthworks at a construction site in Yuanyang county, Henan province, on Saturday.

The children were all from the county's Wenzhuang village. A preliminary investigation indicated they suffocated after being buried, it said.

The bodies of the four children were uncovered 1 meter beneath the earthworks, ThePaper.cn, a news portal, reported on Sunday, adding that the construction site had been accused of failing to comply with laws.

Oscar-winning illustrator and animator Gene Deitch, best known for directing popular cartoons like Tom & Jerry and Popeye died at the age of 95, in Prague Thursday. 

奥斯卡获奖插画师、动画大师吉恩•戴奇16日在布拉格去世，享年95岁。戴奇因执导《猫和老鼠》和《大力水手》等经典动画而闻名。

In a career spanning nearly six decades, Deitch directed popular cartoons like ‘Munro’, ‘Tom Terrific’, ‘Here’s Nudnik’ among many others. He directed around 13 episodes of ‘Tom and Jerry’ for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) Studios from 1961 to 1962 and multiple episodes for ‘Popeye the Sailor’ for King Features Syndicate TV between 1960 and 1963.

戴奇在近60年的职业生涯里，曾执导过《蒙罗》《惊人的汤姆》《这是努尼克》等经典动画。在1961至1962年期间，他为米高梅工作室执导了约13集 《猫和老鼠》；在1960 至 1963年期间，为国王图片辛迪加影视执导了多集《大力水手》。

Deitch was nominated for three Academy Awards. He was first nominated for a Best Short Film (Animated) Oscar in 1958 for ‘Sidney’s Family Tree’, a six minute animated movie, which he had co-produced and directed. In 1961, he won an Oscar in the same category for ‘Munro’, a nine-minute long comedy. He was nominated twice in 1964 in the short animated film category for ‘Here’s Nudnik’ and ‘How to Avoid Friendship’.
