上一期：翻译练习（13）：Moral Sentiments

先看上次情况：

The moral sentiments within a commercial society manifest themselves in more general rules of just conduct (related to the institutions of property, contract, and consent), rather than specific outcomes of just division given a fixed resource endowment. The rules of the intimate order do not transfer to the extended order without sacrificing the gains from social cooperation under the division of labor, in which case we sacrifice the extended order itself.

参考译文1：商业社会中的道德情操体现为更普遍的正当行为准则（与财产、契约和同意的制度相关），而不是给定一种固定资源禀赋的公平分配的具体结果。如果不牺牲劳动分工下的社会合作收益，亲密秩序中的规则就不能转移到扩展秩序中，而在这种情况下，我们牺牲了扩展秩序本身。

参考译文2：商业社会中的道德情操体现为更普遍的正当行为准则（与财产、契约和同意的制度相关），而不是给定一种固定资源禀赋下公平分配的具体结果。如果将亲密秩序中的规则转移到扩展秩序中，就必然会牺牲劳动分工下的社会合作收益，而在这种情况下，我们牺牲了扩展秩序本身。

以上两种翻译方式仅供参考，我个人倾向于第2种，更接近作者真正想要表达的意思。

简要讲解：

1. rules of just conduct  正当行为规则

2. fixed resource endowment 固定资源禀赋

3. intimate order 亲密秩序  extended order 扩展秩序

4. The rules …… do not transfer to the extended order without sacrificing…… 双重否定表肯定

重点词汇：

1. manifest  v. ~ itself (in sth) to appear or become noticeable 显现；使人注意到

2. conduct  n. the way someone behaves, especially in public, in their job etc.〔尤指在公共场合、工作岗位上等的〕行为，举止
